Hello October
As September comes to a close, let’s look back on our first month as a bookshop.
After one whole month of running Bookle Up, I thought it’d be fun to sit down and have a look at how it went, some of my favourite reads, and thank everyone who has purchased from me so far.
Since opening at the beginning of September, we’ve welcomed some new titles, so best to start with them. We now have a range of 22 autumnal books for you to choose from. The newest additions being Faling like leaves by Misty Wilson, and People Watching by Hannah Bonam Young. We also added in the likes of A Cinnamon Falls Mystery and Out on a limb, with Terms of Agreement being our first indie author product (P.S. They’re signed copies).
Laurie Gilmore has proved extremely popular, with her Dream Harbor series screaming fall, from her covers to cosy (but spicy) plots. Ashley Poston followed close behind with both her books proving a fan favourite- including me.
Posting on TikTok did slow a little, and is something I’m constantly working on, but we do have over 1.1K followers now, so I better keep up with you all! One of my favourite things is talking to you guys in the comments, or giving you tailor made recommendations for what to read next. Plus, those subscribed to the newsletter get hear from me even more often! Aren’t you lucky.
My aim for this month is to continue to grow our community, dive deeper into the world of BookTok, and post on my damn Instagram.
My favourite read this month was ReWitched by Lucy Jane Wood. The mixture of cosy comfort and intriguing suspense made it the perfect book to cosy up with of an evening. As soon as UnCharmed (Book 2) released, I got my hands on it straight away. The small town Belle live sin channels Gilmore Girls and Stars Hollow, plus Lucy’s love for all things 90s is fed gently through the plot. It was my first witchy fantasy, and definitely won’t be my last. What I will say, to those who depend on a heavy romance plot, this one may not be for you. The romance wasn’t crazy intense, so if that’s a deal breaker for you, maybe try something else.
As a whole, I’ve loved my first month being a book seller, hopefully October brings us even more book friends- and a chill in the air because I’m ready to get my scarves out.
As we near November, it will be time to look at the Christmas reads, so any recommendations, please let me know on our social channels!
See you next time, thank you for being here!
